Each year Australian Energy Producers recognises outstanding work and achievements in the energy industry, with a number of awards presented during the Australian Energy Producers Conference & Exhibition. Closing Address

Biography

Samantha McCulloch is the Chief Executive of Australian Energy Producers, the peak national body representing Australia’s explorers, developers and producers of essential energy - oil, gas and lower-emission fuels.
An internationally recognised carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) expert, Ms McCulloch has a highly informed view of the critical role the oil and gas industry continues to play in meeting global energy and climate goals.
Before joining APPEA in 2022, she spent seven years at the International Energy Agency including four years as head of the CCUS Unit.
Ms McCulloch has more than 20 years of policy, industry and technical expertise from previous roles within government, industry associations and the private sector in Australia and internationally.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of Wollongong, as well as a Master of Public Policy from the Australian National University.

Biography

Tor McCaul has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He graduated in Petroleum Engineering from UNSW in 1987 and spent the next 9 years based in Brisbane working with operating companies in development and production roles. He spent the following 11 years in Asia in technical, finance, commercial and management roles, including LNG Contract Manager for VICO Indonesia on the 23 mtpa Bontang LNG project and Head of Commercial for the Indian business for Cairn plc. He became Managing Director of Comet Ridge Limited in 2009.
Mr McCaul has previously been the Chairman for the Queensland Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and President of QUPEX, and is the current Vice Chair of Australian Energy Producers.
