Australian Energy Producers presents a panel series as part of the Technical & Business program that will deliver free flowing discussion and debate on a crucial topic for our industry.
The International Energy Agency is clear that reaching net zero will be “virtually impossible” without carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). For Australia, meeting net zero goals means our national CCUS capacity will need to reach at least 80 million tonnes of CO2 stored each year by 2050 – almost twice today’s global CO2 storage rates – with some Net Zero Australia scenarios needing ten times this amount. While Australia is already a world-leader in CCUS – with the Gorgon and Moomba projects among the world’s largest – what needs to happen to roll-out CCUS at the scale and speed required?
This panel session: Carbon capture, utilisation and storage | Realising Australia’s net zero opportunity will bring together the companies already operating CCUS in Australia, as well as those advancing the next generation of projects, to discuss how Australia can ride the wave of global momentum and build our own world-class CCUS industry.
